Do you have a sneaky feeling that your boyfriend may dump you? There are ways to put some brakes on the rough ride of a breakup.  Love is worth preserving, it may be hard at times, but it will be worth it.

Communicating in a clear and open fashion is an important first move.  If you’re experiencing unease and arguing, state your feelings clearly, but don’t say anything harsh that you’ll later regret.  Don’t overwhelm your boyfriend, give him a chance to express himself and listen carefully.  Listening and learning is a good way to prevent a breakup.  It’s foolish not to expect that your boyfriend will look at things a little differently than you do.  You each must build bridges to overcome the gaps in your feelings.  An open mind is a gift, use it, work out a plan to help each other in the relationship.

Whatever effort your boyfriend may take to enrich the relationship, give him encouragement and support.  A man is encouraged when he knows someone is out to promote him, to back him up.  If there is something that your boyfriend really likes to do, get involved, that will go a long way to preventing a breakup.  You may not like certain sports, maybe the idea of getting greasy while you help him work on his car isn’t your idea of a good time, but getting involved is a good way to prevent the breakup of a relationship.  Root for him when he’s throwing hoops, encourage him to talk when he’s feeling blue.  Make your boyfriends dreams become your own, help him realize them by helping to the best of your ability.  Being with him, helping him through bad times, laughing with him in good times, is of key importance.

As a third phase, look at yourself, build yourself up, improve in ways that you want to. That will make you more desirable to him.  Maybe you’re letting less important things get in the way of you being a desirable companion.  Becoming a person who doesn’t seem to enjoy time with your boyfriend is a good cause for a breakup.  Everybody needs some self-improvement, figure out what’s best for you.  Don’t go for plastic surgery or liposuction, just make some changes that will make both you and your boyfriend delighted.  Spruce up your wardrobe, quit a bad habit or something he finds annoying.  Add some happiness to your personal side.  Go shopping. Read a book. Write poetry.  When you’re happy, those around you are happier, and that can help prevent a breakup.

A last bit of assurance for a steady relationship is to spend a lot of quality time with your significant other.  Quality time should be time that involves only the two of you, doing something that gives you both a thrill.  Times like this can strengthen a relationship, bring two people closer together.  It’s a good idea to set up a “date night” every week. Or plan a long weekend away.  Develop a hobby that you both enjoy. Just having a rap session for a little while at the end of the day can make a significant difference.  Time together is like a cement to strengthen your relationship.

Putting into practice the aforementioned tips will definitely curb a breakup.  Taking time, using perseverance, will overcome any imperfections that may arise in a relationship.  Willingness to do your part, maybe a little more, is most important in preventing a relationship from breaking up.
